Pinot Blanc Pica

White wine from the Romantik® Hotel Turm in Völs am Schlern
Pica, the Latin name for the magpie
It gives its name to the Pinot Bianco from the Grottner winery in South Tyrol. Its characteristic black-and-white plumage makes it unmistakable. In Germanic mythology, the magpie was a messenger of the gods, unpopular as a gallows bird in the Middle Ages, and in Asia, it is considered a bringer of good luck. The name here does not refer to its reputation as the "thieving magpie," but its elegance is meant to underscore the elegance of this Pinot Bianco.
An excellent companion to light fish dishes, vegetable, or pasta dishes.
